The North American Floorball League (NAFL) exists to bring the highest level of floorball to North America, in order to showcase the sport to a new audience and develop the game in new markets. Floorball is a fast-paced, exciting sport that has become very popular in Europe and is rapidly expanding around the world, particularly in North America. The NAFL was founded in 2020 and began play in June of 2022.
The NAFL began play with 4 teams, and will likely play with 5 or 6 teams in 2023. The season will be played over the course of four weekends, with 4 teams hosting the other teams for round-robin play in their home venue. Each team will play 2 to 4 games per weekend.
Games will be played spaced across Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of each weekend. The teams will each play 12 regular season games, and the top four teams will advance to the playoffs, which will be held on the final Saturday and Sunday of the season.
The regular season will be played during the month of July 2023. The league is played using the rules promulgated by the International Floorball Federation (IFF). All games will consist of three 20-minute periods with clock stoppage on every whistle. Games cannot end in a tie. A 15 second shot clock has been implemented for penalty shots.
