The North American Floorball League (NAFL) has just opened its doors and teams and players are free to register their interest before the league starts in June 2021. This will be the first floorball league in North America where otherwise only a few tournaments are arranged for the clubs that exist. Joel Olofsson, who is responsible for everyday events and communication in the SSL club FC Helsingborg, is vice president of the league.
“I help with my experience from floorball in Sweden and I am also the national captain for the USA.” Ryan Connor, who runs this, is fairly new to floorball, he has a son who played in the U19 national team and that whole family has become floorball crazy about it, and he thinks that floorball will be big in North America now.
“This is exactly the kind of person you need and I hope to be able to help with what I can with my experiences,” says Joel Olofsson to Innebandymagazinet. The format for NAFL is that eight teams will be divided into two divisions, East and West. The basic series will be played over four weekends and in total the teams will play 12 basic series matches. The top 2 teams from each division advance to the playoffs, which are held on the fifth weekend of the season. The basic series starts on 19 June 2021 and the final on 18 July. A total of 10,000 dollars will be awarded in prize money to the top 4 teams.
